Handshakes

The AFCA recently sent letters to each school requesting participation in this initiative of civility for the opening week of the season. Here's what some of the players had to say about shaking hands with Boise St. players on September 3rd:

-Jeremiah Masoli: "Wow, that's different. That's unique. ... I don't like it. I don't even like shaking hands when you get out there with the captains for the coin flip. It might spice things up a little bit, I don't know. I just like running on the field; this is our side, that's your side, and it's game time."

-Darron Thomas: "I don't know about that. It's war out there on the field. Once you turn it on ... no handshaking until the game's over. I don't know about the handshaking."

-Talmadge Jackson: "Sounds a little iffy to me."

-Spencer Paysinger: "Reminds me of Little League but that's fine if that's what we have to do."

-Chip Kelly: "I got bigger things to worry about. If they want us to do it, we'll do it. Happily"

I can't wait to see how this turns out!

Oregon vs. Arizona Motivational Video

It's almost time...and I'm back!

September third (The Oregon/Boise St. rematch game) is quickly approaching and this season will be even more exciting than the last, if that's even possible. Aside from the whole O-Line basically leaving, this is one of the best Oregon teams ever put on the field. I'm very pleased to see all of the positive coverage that the Ducks are getting this preseason. It's finally time they received recognition! Here is a list of all things Oregon that have happened in the past few weeks:

-Masoli graced the cover of Sports Illustrated. Cover shot here
-Ducks have been pre ranked at 11 and are one of the top "BCS Buster" teams to look out for this season
-Oregon training camp and practice has officially opened. Public released notes on practice found here
-Justin Roper and Chris Harper both left for starting QB jobs elsewhere.

Those were the most notable. Soon I'll have up the roster breakdown and other technical things like that.

Oregon Ducks, CHAMPS

Let me start this off by saying this was the greatest Ducks games I have ever witnessed. This game meant so much to the team and they went out, and it was rough, but they executed. Who would have thought they would even make it this far? After 3 starting quarterbacks went down, and a loss to Boise, my Ducks were counted out. BUT, Masoli and the rest of the team stepped up huge. This season definitely surpassed last season in my books. Sorry Dennis, I love you (no homo) but this season delivered. This game changed me, it was so awesome. Our run game was so phenomenal. I sat here for most of the game and got harassed by my friends that were here watching the game with me. Let's just say it became silent. I don't know what more to say, I'm at a loss of words. I'll hit this up tomorrow guys.

Pac-10 Bowl Record: 2-0

Sorry it's a little late, but now Cal beat Miami (FL) in the Emerald Bowl 24-17. Cal had it going with the run game for sure, with Jahvid Best getting 186 yards and 2 touchdowns off of 20 carries. It was probably one of the best bowl games so far this year, and now the Pac-10 is 2-0 in bowls. What do you think now, haters?

Pac-10 Bowl Record: 1-0

Last night Arizona defeated the 16th ranked BYU Cougars in the Las Vegas Bowl with a score of 31 to 21. I managed to catch some of this game and I was impressed with the play of Tuitama. He passed for 325 yards and 2 touchdowns, and rushed for another. This is Arizona's first bowl win since the 1998 Holiday Bowl and the loss makes BYU 2-5 in their last 7 appearances.
